Protecting native wildlife in Wānaka from predation by introduced pests
We are aiming to educate people about nature, reduce the number of pests in the region and protect precious native wildlife which is vulnerable to predators.
We currently run 14 trapping projects on public land, targeting a wide range of introduced predators including mice, rats, hedgehogs, possums, stoats, ferrets and weasels. We’re always on the lookout for new volunteers…
We run a trap library for residents of the Upper Clutha basin. One trap per property can be borrowed for up to three months. Full training is given to all borrowers, along with advice about where to site the trap…
We publish a quarterly newsletter and organise public talks by visiting experts, trapping workshops and school visits…
We’ve joined many other trapping groups around Aotearoa in the Give a Trap initiative which launched in April 2023. View our donation page here and join the growing group of generous supporters.
